DUPR + Rallyo for pickleball clubs: how to get the best of both

May 15, 2026 · Joran Hofman · 4 min read

DUPR and Rallyo sometimes get compared as if they were competitors. They aren't — they solve different problems. DUPR is an international rating database, comparable to chess.com for chess: a central place where your rating is verified across thousands of matches internationally. Rallyo is an event organiser: a tool to run Americanos, Round Robins and ladders at your club. One is a rating system, the other is event software.

For pickleball clubs that are serious, DUPR and Rallyo work alongside each other. This article explains how — the role distribution, the practical workflow, and when each system leads.

What DUPR does

The DUPR rating (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) is the worldwide standard for pickleball skill assessment. Scale from 2.0 (beginner) to 8.0 (professional). Every registered match updates your rating via an Elo-style algorithm. Players create an account at dupr.com, link matches, and their rating becomes internationally comparable.

Where DUPR is strong: official tournament results, international rating comparison, long-term rating history. DUPR is to pickleball what federation rating is to tennis and padel — a formal registration system, not an event organiser.

What Rallyo does

Rallyo is the event organiser at club level. Pickleball formats (Round Robin, Americano, King of the Court, ladder), sign-ups, automatic pairings, live scoring, club-internal rating. Works alongside existing tools, not as a replacement. Free for your whole club.

Where Rallyo is strong: organising the weekly club night. Players sign themselves up, automatic pairings run, scores are entered on court, and the club-internal rating updates immediately — regardless of whether the match is also registered with DUPR.

Why you need both

DUPR without an event organiser means: you have a rating but no easy way to run matches. Players find their own partners, arrange court times, and have to register every match with DUPR themselves. Lots of friction, low adoption.

Rallyo without DUPR means: you organise events efficiently but your club rating has no international comparability. Players who move to another club or tournament circuit lose the rating context.

Both together: event organisation is seamless (Rallyo does the work), and players keep their international rating (DUPR registers the results). The club-internal Rallyo rating gives weekly progress visibility; the DUPR rating gives official credibility.

The practical workflow

Step 1: members register at DUPR (one-time, free at dupr.com) and at Rallyo (one-time, free, with DUPR rating linked at signup).

Step 2: organiser sets up a weekly Round Robin or Americano in Rallyo. Members sign themselves up. Pairings run automatically.

Step 3: on court, scores are entered in Rallyo. Club-internal rating updates immediately.

Step 4: for matches that should also count toward DUPR, the organiser exports the scores and both players confirm via dupr.com. A few extra clicks per match.

Step 5: players see two ratings side by side in their profile — DUPR (international, slower update tempo) and Rallyo club rating (local, immediate update after every match).

Use case: pickleball club of 50 members

A typical setup: weekly Round Robin on Thursday evening via Rallyo (60 players max, 4 courts, 2 hours). Monthly tournament evening with DUPR registration on Sunday. Result: members see weekly progress in their Rallyo rating + monthly official rating adjustment in DUPR.

The extra-step-to-DUPR-registration feels like overhead sometimes, but for players who want internationally-comparable rating it's worth it. The club organiser doesn't have to manage both platforms simultaneously — Rallyo runs the events, players register at DUPR for the matches that matter to them.

Use case: multi-sport club

At multi-sport clubs (padel + pickleball, or tennis + pickleball) the benefit grows. Rallyo handles all three sports in 1 app with separate ratings per sport. DUPR specifically for pickleball skill level. Federation rating for tennis + padel via the federation app. Three systems, each for its own role, and Rallyo as integrated event organiser across all three sports.

Start with Rallyo free

Have a pickleball club that wants to run weekly events? Start free with Rallyo. DUPR integration is for later — first make sure weekly event organisation runs smoothly, then bring DUPR in when members want internationally-comparable rating.

Frequently asked questions

Is DUPR mandatory for pickleball clubs?

No. Not needed for social club nights. For those who want to play international tournaments or move between clubs with formal rating comparison: useful.

Does DUPR cost money?

No, a DUPR account is free. Rating tracking is free. Premium features (extensive analytics, club management) cost money.

Does Rallyo automatically sync with DUPR?

Per match category. Social club night results: players register themselves with DUPR if they want to. For official tournaments the tournament administrator handles the DUPR export. Full real-time sync is on the roadmap.
